Work Like You’re Showing Off: The Joy, Jazz, and Kick of Being Better
Tomorrow Than You Were Today by Joe Calloway
The most appealing thing most of you will notice when you pick up this
book is that it is short! That’s good. I like short books. I like books
that are easy to read. I like my books to be entertaining. I want to
smile while reading it. I want the book to make me think about what I
can actually do differently to give me a better result. I am not looking
for earth-shattering commentary or big confusing concepts that are hard
to figure out and harder to implement. I want the books I read to be
simple, fun and have at least one great idea I can take away and use.
That is my formula for a great book. Joe delivers!
The part of the book that was MY take-away: What am I doing in my life
that I need to let go of to get better results? Joe asks a couple of
simple little questions about life and work that lead you in that
direction. Those questions made the book worthwhile to me.
You will find your own take-aways. My wife got something totally
different and didn’t even remember what I was talking about when I
mentioned my take-away. That is what is magic about a great book:
everyone finds their own take-away! This is my promise to you: You will
find your take-away and that one little idea can make you better.
Here is a bonus. The book is cheap. Yep...cheap!!! Ten bucks! Ten bucks can get you AT LEAST one great idea that
can make you like yourself and your life and your job more and make you
better tomorrow than you were today. That is the bargain of the year for
sure!!

Everything I Know About Business I Learned from my Mama: A Down-Home
Approach to Business and Personal Success
by Tim Knox
If you could combine the business acumen of Steven Covey with the
down-home humor of Jeff Foxworthy, you'd have millionaire entrepreneur
and former comedian Tim Knox. In Everything I Know About Business I
Learned from My Mama, Knox offers a refreshingly funny account of his
rise from backwoods poverty to wealth and success. Along the way, he
presents commonsense lessons on the basics of business—lessons learned
from owning and operating businesses in the real world, not in some
business school fantasyland.
To succeed in life and in business, all you really need to do is listen
to your mama. Tim Knox did, and in this book is what he learned. Part
memoir, part self-help, and part business how-to manual, Everything I
Know About Business I Learned from My Mama serves up world-class,
Southern-fried business advice—with a side order of common sense. Dig in
and see how far Tim's mama's advice can take you.
